Voter Bribery Is an Election Offence

Voter bribery includes offering, giving, soliciting or accepting money, gifts, services or other benefits to influence a person’s vote or decision to vote.
The offence applies to both the person offering the bribe and the voter soliciting or accepting it.
Examples
Cash, fuel, food items, alcohol, blankets, gas cylinders and other handouts offered to influence voters may constitute bribery.
Possible penalties
A convicted person may face a fine of up to KES 2 million, imprisonment for up to six years, or both.
