ELOG is pleased to officially welcome the East and Horn of Africa Election Observers Network (E-HORN), a new regional network connecting citizen observers in Kenya, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. From October 28 to 30, 2013, E-HORN leaders gathered together in Machakos, Kenya to officiate the network, develop a coordination mechanism, and consider strategies for developing the capacity of citizen observers across the region. On 4 March, Kenyan GNDEM member the Elections Observation Group (ELOG) deployed over 7,000 citizen election observers to all 290 constituencies to observe Kenya's hotly-contested presidential election. ELOG, a consortium of Kenyan civil society groups, carried out its inaugural observation mission during Kenya's 2010 constitutional referendum, and this presidential election is the first to be held under the new constitution.
